Family Resilience

“Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.”

– C.S. Lewis

Family life can be such a glorious collection of fun, laughter, tears, learning, growing, falling and picking ourselves back up again. Ideally, we do this in a family environment that is supportive and encouraging. However, sometimes stress gets in the way and brings out the worst in us. Increasing our resilience helps us first to be our best selves, then as a result, we can better support our children in developing their own resilience. The Community Resiliency Model teaches practical techniques that can be used by all ages. These help to regulate our physical stress responses and return the body to its natural balance. This allows us to function at our best. Modelling and instilling good stress-regulating practices in our children will build their resilience for the rest of their lives.
